You will want the Wantable FULL-SIZE Monthly Makeup Subscription Box, no doubt about it!

Let’s go through the line-up that was in my Wantable Makeup April 2017 Subscription Box.  It’s full of lesser known brands (at least to my novice cosmetic knowledge). It’s always fun to get in my monthly subscription boxes new indie brand products.

1st up in the lineup, Dirty Little Secret satin lipstick in the color Hopeless. The lipstick retails for $10.00.

The color is a sort of nude/pink/peach. Probably mostly a peach hue. It’s quite sheer so it just gives a hint of color with one swipe. However, it’s definitely buildable for those who want to build the color. It’s also fantastic to swipe over another color to give it a little sparkle and shine.

This is a nice feeling lipstick. It’s perfect for everyday wear, but don’t expect this to be long wearing. I mean it’s a satin lip product and I don’t know any that are long lasting. I have dry lips and I don’t love wearing gloss daily because it’s often too sticky and my hair gets stuck in it. So this is a perfect everyday alternative.

Next from my new friends at Dirty Little Secret was a neutral eyeshadow palette. Unfortunately, it was totally smashed. And when I say smashed, I mean pulverized.

It was so bad that I couldn’t even distinguish enough of their color in order to give you all accurate descriptions. However, I can tell you that there would have been 5 colors.

My initial thought was its untimely fate had to have been at the hands of the handling at the post office. The box that the products had two huge pieces of foamy type stuff surrounding the products, so it seemed weird that they would be so, so, soooo wholly damaged.

I emailed Wantable and they responded within 24 hours and shipped me out a replacement. Unfortunately, they didn’t have that same palette in stock.

Anyway, I did some online digging around and was able to find the palette online. Hate to be the bearer of bad news but it appears that this palette doesn’t exist anymore.

However, on the DLS website, they do have an equivalent palette and it retails for $38.00.

Anyway, had it not been ruined I think this palette would have been great and worked on many different skin tones.

The replacement that Wantable sent me was an eyeshadow pot. Yep, just one single pot color  Juliet, by Luna by Luna. My initial reaction was I wouldn’t ever wear it because it was sort of shimmery looking and a rosy color, which I don’t really do either.

But in an attempt to be as daring as possible with the Society, I put a little on my lids. And much to my delight…I LOVED IT. “Ya hear me, Romeo?”

Danke schoen, darling, danke schoen. Wantable is encouraging me to step outside of my norm and try something new. I’ve worn the color twice.  These are the moments that make the subscription world so fantastic.

Alright, next in the batter box was Spellbound Nail Lacquer by Liberty Republic in the color Snapdragon and a ceramic top coat.  I am a nail polish (or is it lacquer? I’m not sure if that’s just the new trend word, or if there really is a difference) freak, I LOVE it so much. I’m sure I’ve mentioned this before; I think nails offer the opportunity to totally complete a look and make a fashion statement.

I wasn’t familiar with this particular brand. I did some more digging around and it’s a nail line that appears to be exclusive to Wantable.  That’s kind of cool and gives it the feel of exclusivity, right? Meeeow!

I really do like the color Snapdragon. It’s a bright orangy-coral color that encourages bright and happy thoughts. It encourages me to sing about a Tequila Sunrise.

The ceramic top coat confuses me a little. It looks very cloudy in the bottle. And it dries very matte and dull. I’m not sure I like the top coat. Actually, I’ll just say it…I don’t like it. It’s just not my thing. What I do love is how quickly this polish dries. That’s the secret “gem” of nail polishes that keep me purchasing.

As far as the retail cost so we can compare, I couldn’t find a cost because it doesn’t sell in retail stores. It’s a Wantable thing. But I did find a couple for sale on eBay and they were being sold for $10-$20.

Let’s move up to the eyes again for a moment. In my Wantable box came a Volumizing Water Resistant mascara by Face Stockholm.

I’ve had a love-hate relationship with Mascara. I love having dark lashes, yet as I get older I am struggling. They aren’t nearly as full and are certainly losing their super dark color.

For me, there are a few things that are very important aspects to choosing my mascara.

  1. Because of my oily skin, when I wear mascara I always find that I I end up with raccoon eyes.  It’s like my bottom lashes (or maybe top) hit below my eyes and leaves tiny little strips of the mascara. Eventually, it builds to a full line of what appears to be either a super sleepy Erin, or bar fighting Erin. And neither is a good look for me. Therefore, the mascara has to dry well and not transfer easily.
  1. Because I have sort of large eyes in relation to my actual face size,  if my mascara is too dramatic (clumpy?) my face ends up looking distorted and unbalanced. This means the formula and the brush must work together in a perfect symbiotic relationship to each other.

The Face Stockholm mascara was just this. Not only did it dry well and resist my greezy face’s tendency to grab the product from the lash to the skin; the brush had the perfect bristles and bottleneck that pulled the perfect amount of mascara off the brush. NO CLUMP solution.

This mascara retails for freaking $32 smack-a-roonies. WTF!!! I think it’s awesome that it was in the Wantable box because no matter how fantastic a mascara is, I would never pay that for a mascara. High Five Wantable!!!

The last thing I want to bring attention to is the customer service. I was so impressed with their response time, their immediate resolution to my broken eye palette, and their communication throughout.

A++ on how they treated me. To me, that’s worth as much as the products.

My only hesitation for this subscription; I do think it’s a little pricey for each month at $36 a pop. (that’s if you keep all the products, otherwise, it’s $40) That would be my only drawback.

So even though we are getting way more value in the products sent than the monthly cost of the subscription, I’m just not sure I want to spend that much on cosmetics each month, nor need to. You can skip a month, but again that requires me to plan and be organized in order to ensure I do it.

I leave you with this summary –

I WANT to continue with my Wantable subscription. I love the introduction to new brands.

I love the introduction to new brands in FULL SIZE.

I love that you can return items you don’t like.

I love that their customer service is spot on.

I love that I can skip a month  so I don’t need to cancel my Wantable box subscription.

Welcome, Subscription Box Society readers, thanks for stopping by. I'm Erin and here's a bit about me, in the 3rd person, naturally. Erin's a wife & mom of 3, a girl and twin boys. She spent most her life in San Francisco Bay Area but now lives in Colorado. She loves the first snow of the season, but not as much as the last one. She loves decorating her home for each season, loves good food, scratch that – ALL food, and reality TV. She despises putting away the laundry, being in the car when her husband is driving, and hearing her own voice. But really the only noteworthy detail here is her fascination with the brilliance behind subscription boxes. Welcome to the Society!
