Simply the word JULEP conjures up delight for me. It evokes visions of southern charm & hospitality. Warm Spring days, Pure Bread horses, and bright green mint leaves peeking through the condensation drops on a cocktail glass. It’s everything I think I was in a previous life (or I like to pretend I was).

So how could a subscription box exist with the name Julep and me not be completely fancied by it? It seems like an impossibility, right?

Well Julep was one of the boxes I had yet to actually try out, but with the free first month, I simply had to. It would be rude not to.

So, here’s the deal – you get to tailor your box…I can get behind this. There are sections and you choose one or two items from each section. I did end up choosing to purchase one or two extra items because, well because I have no self-control. Well Played Julep!

It’s Balm – Color: Almond Nude

It’s not just lip service when they say this lip balm is full coverage. I chose a nude color because no matter how full coverage a lip balm says it is, it’s usually sheer’esque. Unfortunately because I chose a nude and it’s truly full coverage I looked a bit like i had concealer on my lips. The color is rich and deeply pigmented…but so luxurious. Unfortunately the color (which I picked out) isn’t the greatest on me, as is. However, I did a little layering with one of my pre-existing darker colors and it’s beautiful.

You can see that the center of the balm is the moisturizing little magic. I will be purchasing this in other colors. It’s the perfect balance of color and hydration for your summer lips.

When Pencil Met Gel – Color: Soft Black

OK so this was one of my “I simply must” add on’s. I have been trying to find a pencil that goes on like a gel but sets like kohl. I thought this was the perfect opportunity to explore.

I decided to go for the soft black because I’ve left the “I can rock black eyeliner” years but haven’t quite embraced the “it’s sable brown for me” years.

I’m not sure why I didn’t figure this out previously, but turns out, soft black is actually just charcoal grey. And charcoal grey I can do.

I can’t say that it stood out as phenomenal above any others. It certainly applied nicely and seemed to stay put. However the real testing will come when I wear it out in the dead heat of the day or at night dancing. That’s when we’ll really get to see it’s staying put power.

JULEP – Color That Treats Nail Polish

Elsie – Wonder Maven

Although it says it’s sheer, it’s not.

But, It. Is. Gorgeous. It has sparkles in it, which is the sheer part. I guess because it was not in anyway see-through I don’t think of that as a sheer color.

Liesl – Bombshell

I love highly pigmented matte colors. I sort of haven’t yet mastered painting my nails with them yet though because without perfect lines they do tend to look a bit sloppy. But this color is so beautiful and “julep’y” I may just go pay for someone else to paint my nails in it.

Voila – And here they are!!! And honestly I did this just for this review and ended up wearing it like this for several days. They really are that pretty.

Ta-Da! Quick Dry Drops

And last but certainly not least…the quick dry drops. A must for anyone who paints their nails as often as I do. I love quick dry products for my nails. Often though they come in a bottle with a brush. I adored that these came with a dropper. I can’t tell you how many times I didn’t wait the specified time (antsy pants) and the brush of the quick dry left a dent. The dropper did not go unnoticed!
