I received my April Ellie Active Wear box and it’s full of delightful active wear items; just as expected.

I swear, the curators at Ellie’s subscription box headquarters are determined to change my mind about the sports bra. The sports bras get cuter and comfier with each month.

And the sports bra that came in this box is the cutest I’ve encountered by far. And, it totally flirted with being something other than active wear. GAH! Ellie, I just love you guys.

Good Segway – let’s just start here. I don’t know why sports bras and I can’t seem to find our groove. I have a total inability to find a comfy sports bra.

It bums me out because I really want to be able to wear them as effortlessly as my active stylish friends. I mean what is it? I don’t have large boobies. Do I have huge man shoulders or an abnormally large rib cage? (let’s just stick a pin in this one for now)

In the April subscription box, I was excited to see The black Clio Sports Bra by Bally Total Fitness. I had high hopes for it at an immediate glance because it definitely looked less constrictive to wear than previous ones.  This is the most comfortable Sports Bra I’ve ever attempted to wear for longer than 8 minutes.

I think it’s because of the adjustable straps that are much more reminiscent of standard (insert French accent) brassiere straps. They’re softer, thinner, and much kinder to my skin. Go Ellie Go Ellie Go Ellie!

And the cute eyelet fabric is adorbs. This sports bra will be so so cute under many casual attire outfits…this is our, gym optional, sports bra.

Fashion Leggings by The Balance Collection are “Qual” (code for when my Brit hubs-man indicates something is quality; which ironically doesn’t mean high-end quality as such…it means “fabulous”)

Anyway, the leggings are very “cottony” as opposed to “spandexy”. Which translates to I fully expect them to stretch out by the end of a day. Nope, not so Kimono, not even a little bit!

I wore them for TWO AND ONE-HALF DAYS (don’t judge) and they maintained their shape and stretch. No joke, check out my video – that was DAY TWO, late afternoon into the evening. That’s taut!

They are really comfortable, really soft, and quite adorbs, which is probably where the “fashion” portion comes from in the name “Fashion Leggings” These aren’t your Nana’s leggings. And I love the detail on the ankles, it sets it apart from all the other leggings I have in my black pant arsenal.

The pink Marika tank threw me a curve ball. So…I had my daughter take photos of me as I had on the items so I could let you guys know if there were any fit oddities or concerns.

You see – I have to see myself actually wearing the articles, otherwise, I just think that they look the same on me as they do on dazzling models who wear them in the marketing. It’s like a reverse image distortion.

Anyway, I thought for sure because I’m so hipster that it would look best untied and have a bit more flow over my boootay range. I was flipping through the photos and I’ll be damned if it looked really awful when it was untied and flowing. I looked akin to a big pink triangle.

So, tied it back up and boom – let’s get this show on the road.

The Marika headband is a very standard elastic headband. And in my opinion, you can NEVER EVER have too many. Although I believe I’ve said that about scrunchies once upon a time too?

Don’t fear young grasshoppers…we know better now.

However, these Zobha hair ties…they were a little interesting to me. My thoughts as they played out within a span of maybe 30 seconds:

  1. ohhh, cute!
  2. what are they?
  3. oh hair ties!
  4. how does it work?
  5. Ohhh it’s stretchy…like a hair band, I guess.
  6. uhhh, these won’t hold my pony (I have heavy hair) nor can they possibly have enough stretch to complete the perfect amount of twists.
  7. well what-a-ya-know, these aren’t as delicate as I expected!

Although they did hold my pony, it was a droopy pony. Unfortunately, these didn’t end up having the right amount of stretchy-ness that I needed for my hair. I truly do have heavy hair; or is it called dense in the professional world?

But hey I found a super cute way to wear them, for me at least. I have bangs/fringe and I always will. I love my bangs and every time I have tried to ever grow them out I miss them, dearly. So please if you were thinking you should have a bang intervention with me, just stop.

Having fringe comes with a lot of commitment and requires solution’ing when you want to have them off your face; like when working out. Lookee what I came up with for the hair ties from my Ellie subscription box. Ponytail with bangs pulled back with the hair ties…no negative vibes please, cause it’s workin for me! I feel so urban chic (is that a thing?).

Finally, The Bally Total Fitness Magnetic Towel –it’s super cool, unfortunately, it has no meaningful purpose in my workout life.  I don’t go to gyms and I don’t use metal gym equipment long enough to sweat.

However, for the consummate resistance training, weight lifting, unbothered by public athletic venue audience – these towels would rock!

For me, it’s better suited where it currently is…as a kitchen towel stuck to the side of my frig-e-daire! Word!

So once again Ellie has pulled me in, yet again and made me love all things, Ellie. Honestly, Ellie is not budging from strong in my few top spots of monthly active wear subscription boxes.

Even though I couldn’t use each of the products as intended, they each found their rightful spot in my life.

Once again Ellie, thanks for being in my Society life!

About The Author

mm

Welcome, Subscription Box Society readers, thanks for stopping by. I'm Erin and here's a bit about me, in the 3rd person, naturally. Erin's a wife & mom of 3, a girl and twin boys. She spent most her life in San Francisco Bay Area but now lives in Colorado. She loves the first snow of the season, but not as much as the last one. She loves decorating her home for each season, loves good food, scratch that – ALL food, and reality TV. She despises putting away the laundry, being in the car when her husband is driving, and hearing her own voice. But really the only noteworthy detail here is her fascination with the brilliance behind subscription boxes. Welcome to the Society!
